When the first pull-down faucets appeared 20 years ago, kitchen renovators loved the idea of using the flexible internal hose as a tool, directing the water to scour the sink or to spray-clean vegetables. Switching between streaming and aerated water at the touch of a button was new, too.
No one was wild about how they looked, however. That’s changed: Now half a dozen companies offer graceful “arc” designs that resemble the classic gooseneck. Still others integrate deck-mounted bridges or farmhouse-style hand pumps. Then there are restaurant-inspired faucets with exposed steel hoses protected by an external coil.
At higher price points, you’ll get better components (silicone nozzles and stainless steel hoses rather than plastic) along with high-end styling.
