Small Shaker Bench Part 3: Attaching the Top & Finishing

In the last part of our video series, Phil Huber, editor of Woodsmith Magazine, walks us through the final steps of creating a small Shaker bench, properly screwing the top of the bench to the base.

This video demonstrates the final steps to assembling a small Shaker bench, such as drilling pilot holes to guide where the screws should be drilled into at the base of the bench; filling the screw plugs; and a final sanding job before applying your chosen finish.

With just a single board, a few simple tools and a couple hours of time, you can create a great looking bench.
